Embracing Jewish Roots: Strengthening Your Relationship with Yeshua (Jesus)

Updated: Jan 28

Are you a follower of Jesus?

Did you know that his mother and friends called him Yeshua?

Did you realize that Jesus/Yeshua did not change the Sabbath (Shabbat) from Saturday to Sunday? That was done by Emperor Constantine? The reasons why the changes were made had NOTHING to do with the bible. Nor did it have anything to do with the ressurection.

Rather, the change was made by Emperor Constantine the Great. He accepted Jesus/Yeshua as Savior and through him MANY pagan Romans also converted. BUT, Sunday was known as the "Venerable Day of the Sun". (Yep, to honor the pagan Sun god). Work was to be done on Saturday and Sunday was a day of rest. So, to make it easier for the newly converted who were used to a Sunday day of rest for Pagan reasons, he decreed (entirely for civil reasons) that the sabbath change to Sunday.

Personally, I never knew this until some time during COVID, I began searching out and learning about my personal Jewish roots and that led me on a path of learning about the Jewish roots of my faith.

As a follower of Yeshua (and yes, I'm going to be referring to my Savior by the name he was given...more on that in a later entry), learning about these roots has opened up my soul to an "AHA" moment.

If you are someone who is looking to strengthen your relationship with Yeshua by delving deeper into your Jewish roots, I invite you to join me on my journey. I imagine this will take me the rest of my days on earth.

This blog will be touching on various aspects of that journey :

  • Connections from the New Testament to the Old Testament.

  • The value of the Torah to followers of Yeshua.

  • Exploration in the Appointed Times which are the TRUE biblical Holy Days

  • Musings on the unfolding of prophecies we are seeing.

  • Links to resources that I have used to further this path I am on.

  • Who knows where Adonai will take this work as it progresses.

I don't, but I am excited.

By exploring the historical and cultural context in which Yeshua lived and ministered, you can gain valuable insights that will enrich your faith journey. Understanding the Jewish customs, traditions, and teachings that were prevalent during Yeshua's time can provide you with a fresh perspective on his teachings and the message he came to share.

Blessed are You, Lord our G-d, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to engage in the work of our hands.
